I wanted to apologize for falling behind on my blog. Being a full-time stay-at-home mama is not as easy as it may look. If you know someone who is a stay-at-home mama, make sure to tell them thank you today. They will really appreciate that. Most of the time, what we do goes unnoticed because it seems like everyone’s dream job. Trust me, I love what I am able to do, but I wanted to help those other mamas out with how to keep their home clean daily. It is something I am still learning as I go.
On most days, I try to clean up as much as I can while Michael is watching television or playing in his nursery. To be fair, this does not always happen. I always think that he will wake up while he is napping if I attempt to clean. I enjoy to use his nap time as my time to sit down and relax. There are times when I just look at our messy home and think, it can wait until tomorrow. Even though my son is almost eight months old, he is not the reason why my house gets messy. Either I am doing something and live something out or I start something and do not get the chance to finish because Michael needs a diaper change or to eat.
This may make you feel better, my home is not always organized, but I do try best to clean things up at least once or twice a week. I am looking at my freshly cleaned clothes that are still sitting in the hamper waiting to be folded and put away. This entire weekend was one of the worst weekends of my entire life but I will save that for another day.
Even though our ranch style home with a walk-out basement has three bedrooms, we spend the majority of our time in our living room or master bedroom. Michael and the beagles sleep with us in our bedroom every single night. This also means that I usually end up leaving bottles all over my bedroom after a night feeding because I am too lazy to take them to the kitchen and end up forgetting in the morning.
Below are my tips on how we have started to maintain our messy home during the week:
1. GRAB A BAG
You need to start bagging away items that you no longer use or need. Start with your closet, go through your clothes and start bagging clothes that you have not worn in over a year. If you have not worn it in a year, you will not be wearing it anytime soon. If something in your house has been on your mind that you can not decide if you want, you should probably just bag it up. Once you have bagged up all the items, decide if you want to sell them online or have a garage sale or donate them to those in need.
2. REARRANGE
Look around and decide if something needs a new place for it. Finding the right place for something can really help make your home look a lot more organized. Lets be honest, we often end up with a pile of shoes next to the door every single day. Start making sure that shoes go into the closet and dirty clothes go to the laundry room/hamper. This can make your home look messy to those who enter your home, especially for you.
3. CLEAN UP AS YOU GO
This one is seriously a life saver… To help avoid things getting even more messy, clean up as you go and no longer using. This is something I have started doing recently and it seriously saves me more time in the end. It becomes one less thing I have to clean up later.
I hope this helps someone out. I am still just staring at my clothes that need to be folded… They can wait until tomorrow. 😉
