Since high school, I have had to battle with chronic hypertension and severe anxiety. As a teenager I never really struggled with staying on top of taking my medications and keeping these disorders in check. That was due, in large part, to living at home and having my mother to depend on to remind me.
Fast forward to now and I am twenty-six years old with a husband, a home, a job, two dogs, and two beautiful children under the age of two. As you can imagine, my typical day is anything BUT, a walk in the park. My anxiety is always taking a toll on me if the house is too messy, or if Michael won’t take a nap, or baby John is cranky. That, coupled with the high blood pressure that comes from my chronic hypertension, I find it harder and harder to be consistent with taking my medications that help me.
That is until I discovered the Walgreen’s app. Walgreens is taking a stand and advocating for everyone to be able to have a helping hand when it comes to making their day to day lives easier with chronic disorders. The Walgreen’s app sets reminders for me to take my medications every single day and also to refill my prescriptions when they are getting low. Another feature of the app is a 24/7 help line where you can talk to a pharmacist who can answer any questions you may have.
